As an event planner, people is everything. I am obsessed with getting a taste of what makes people tick, what they love and what they don't. There is nothing more rewarding than bringing people together in a physical space and seeing them enjoying themselves.
Year-End Party
Accra, Ghana
Mission:
To gather all Chinese staff working in Ghana and bring them the best, fun and relaxing time, also the marvelous surprise (iPhones, Samsung Galaxies and real $dollars). Overview: 2015 was a tough year for the company, due to presidential elections, outstanding payments, which led to revenue declining as well as the number of new projects, and it posed significantly negative morale of work for our employees. By organizing the event, I hoped to bring the spirits back, so I designed the topic for the party as 'Creates a promising future through originating abroad ' by using red as the dominant color(symbolizing joy, luck, and fire). With a limited budget, I successfully purchased 2 more new phones by negotiating with vendors to reduce the price. Impact: Employees said that was the best year-end party they ever had, inspirational, warming and foodie-friendly. They felt just like celebrating the New Year at home. |

Real-Life Library
Guiyang, Guizhou
Mission:
To increase library usage for university library. Overview: When being a junior, I always found it hard to find the information I wanted and the right information timely. I went to my advisor, also the Director of Library, and hoped to receive some advice. It turned out the majority of students seldom took advantage of library resources. So I built up a team of 3 to research how to boost the awareness of the school library. Given the idea of TED, we came up with the proposal of Real Life Library - by inviting staff, faculty, students, and alumni to talk about and share their 'unusual experience or talent: from coffee making, weird culture shock to art journey. I was honored invited to talk about my malaria adventure in West Africa, 2017. Impact: A 10% visit rate increase was seen after launching the Real Life Library. Meanwhile, it keeps running by the school library biweekly till now. |

Mission:
To diversity the undergraduates' campus activities. Overview: Undergraduates of year 2011 was the first group moving to the new College Town (Yes, that's me and my peers), where no restaurants, movie theaters, bars and entertainments located around us. As a Vice President responsible for event planning, I found Pepsi scheduled a national wide vocal competition for college students. I contacted with Pepsi regional manager in Guiyang for holding the vocal competition in Guizhou University of Finance and Economics. 3 students who passed the final round (3 rounds in total) held in Guizhou University of Finance and Economics were eligible to compete with winners from other universities/regions, which was held in Chongqing, China. Impact: Over 90 student vocalists participated in the competition. In total, we successfully attracted over 4,000 audiences engaging in the live show. |
