I'm excited to tell stories with easy graph, beautiful visualization and brief comment. I use visualization and design to extract information, build insights and give my audience an easy way to understand the back scene.
Airbnb Comparison
Airbnb listings differences NYC vs London (till Nov 2018)
Overview:
Entire homes, shared rooms, and private room are distributed unevenly across the city both in NYC and London. A language difference also is seen from the word cloud: flat vs. loft. NYC wins for the pricey place to live in this competition. Story: Airbnb is the most popular online traveling platform. I have been to NYC and London in the year 2018. I started curious about the Airbnb differences between the world's top 2 cities. Why I choose Airbnb? Definitely, because I am an Airbnb savvy, super. World Alumni
Where are iSchool alumni landing(2018)?
Overview:
Orange iSchoolars are spreading all over the world. Yes! Orange is everywhere! And it's not surprising that the east coast has the most alumni. I also moved to NYC after graduation. Story: While working as a volunteer of graphic designer in iSchool, our team was given an alumni dataset to figure out where they are now. A world map the best way to represent our location. The bigger the bubble, the more iSchoolars. And I am super proud that this visualization will use for the cover for the iSchool alumni invitation card. Dynamic Social Network
Who are the connections of this gentleman?
|
Overview:
By clicking the node/person (the light blue circle), all the first connections of this person will represent by blue. It can be a bit messy if the person is too social (knows everyone in this network). However, interactive visualization illuminates a quick view of an individual's social connections. Story: The gentleman highlighted in light blue is the professor of Data Visualization. He already knew 7 students before class started (showed in blue dots). THIS, I still regretted I didn't network with him on the orientation day. :( Tool: R (VizNetwork) |
Interactive Social Network
Who are mutual friends?
|
Overview:
An interactive data visualization by moving the mouse over the name demonstrates the relationships of each student. Meanwhile, the display also shows if the 2 are mutual friends. Story: For example, Qiyi knew 21 students, but I can't guarantee all of them also labeled me as their acquaintance, or they pretended not recognizing me. Oops... Tool: R (D3) |
